Didactics and Education
We are training and educating the pediatric anesthesiologists of the future. Therefore, your education is our priority. We offer a variety of didactics in pediatric anesthesiology. Most recently, lectures have focused on board review material given the upcoming Certification Exam in Pediatric Anesthesia offered for the first time in October 2013. We have weekly fellow lectures on Monday afternoons, pediatric cardiac catheterization and congenital heart conferences on Tuesday afternoons, monthly pediatric anesthesia journal clubs, and attend anesthesia departmental grand rounds. In addition, fellows are welcome to attend our SARAG (Sono-anatomy and regional anesthesia group) conferences.
We have a strong presence at the Society of Pediatric Anesthesia and the annual meetings. Our faculty and fellows present abstracts, PBLD’s (problem based learning discussions), and posters every year at this conference where we have to opportunity to share our expertise and learn from the expertise of our colleagues around the world. The fellows are also encouraged to join in the various workshops offered at the conferences.
Our fellows are also expected to perform a research project or activity and complete a QI (quality improvement) project. Several of our faculty members are involved in clinical research projects and a poster, abstract, or PBLD presented at a national meeting can also count towards the research credit. Please see the below links for further information regarding requirements, expectations, and didactic schedules.
